The Wolds are an incredible area in Lincolnshire with a diverse array of activities and attractions, and Wold View has plenty of choice on its doorstep, whatever you enjoy.
So, whether you like to see amazing landscapes with awe-inspiring views or hear more about historic sites and places of interest or prefer an evening sitting in your own private hot tub, we have you covered!
There is nothing like a day at the races, (except for a day spent fishing of course!), and we are located close enough to Market Rasen Racetrack to incorporate a day trip into your stay.
If you check the racing fixtures ahead of your trip, you can combine your fishing trip with a little flutter. Guests are encouraged to dress up – think wedding guest attire, so be sure to pack your best clothes alongside your waders.
Market Rasen has races on most weekends, and it makes for a great afternoon out with friends, family, or smaller parties. Their website has lots of information on race fixtures and allows you to book your tickets in advance.
Belvoir Castle is one of the UK’s finest examples of a regency castle. It rests on a hill, overlooking the vale of Belvoir, meaning ‘beautiful view’ in French.
From the top, you can enjoy views over Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Lincolnshire. It is packed with wonderful historic art accumulated over centuries by successive generations of the Manner family.
Take a guided tour, or simply stroll at your leisure, there are many clearly marked walks, with names like ‘Spiral walk’ or the ‘Duke’s walk’ leading visitors among the gardens and lakes. Explore the Formal Gardens, Japanese Gardens or lose yourself in the aromas of the Rose or Duchess Garden. This attraction is accessible to all, and there’s a wonderful onsite cafe, enabling you to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea after all the fresh air and activity.

If you enjoy being beside the water, and we suspect you might as you booked a stay with us, head to Chapel Point to soak up some of Lincolnshire’s breathtaking coastline.
Once playing a vital part in the coastal defense line in the Second World War, Chapel beach has been restored and redeveloped into the ideal spot to enjoy an afternoon. It provides magnificent views in any direction and a bracing walk should include a visit to the North Sea Observatory at the start or end.
It’s a Lincolnshire beach popular with fishers, and the long sandy shore has easy access. Many species of fish can be found including codling, whiting, dabs, flounders, rockling and sometimes bass. The beach can be fished in summer and winter, and we found this site helpful as to where to pick up tackle and bait.
Lincolnshire Wolds Railway
The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway is a testament to the arduous work of many tireless volunteers who have worked hard to restore this attraction for members of the public to enjoy.
Situated a short distance from the seaside town of Cleethorpes, and the historic town of Louth, the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway is an enjoyable day out for people of all ages. You can take a ride on the heritage steam trains, running on a line between Ludborough and North Thoresby.
Visitors can learn more about the engines in the aptly named ‘Engine shed’ with the experts and have a fish and chip lunch or a cream tea special in the café. It is a remarkable day out for those who have an interest in steam engines!
A small and intimate family-run attraction, the 18th-century Claythorpe Watermill is set on grounds that evoke peace and tranquility.
The mill stopped running in the 1970s, but the grounds have remained well-kept and a local favourite.
It’s a place that encourages you to switch off, enjoy lunch or a cake in the café and sit by the riverside, wiling away your time. There is also the option to dine in the evening and partake in a glass or two of their many delicious, stocked wines. In the summer months, they have outdoor movie screening nights, so check their schedule ahead of your visit. The watermill is a wonderful glimpse into days gone by, and we highly recommend a trip here during your stay with us.
There’s plenty to do in Lincolnshire and don’t forget, the Lincolnshire Wolds are an area of outstanding natural beauty, with plenty of walks, hills, and breathtaking views all around.
Our friendly team are always happy to help, before or during your trip, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.
